Cleaning Your Vinyl Siding
Being in Virginia, we live in a pretty humid area. And all of that humidity and moisture can lead to mold and mildew growth on the outside of our homes. Not only can they be harmful to your home’s exterior, but they greatly take away from your curb appeal. Luckily, if you have vinyl siding, it is easy to clean and there are several cleaning options to choose from. Take a look at our options below!
Spot Cleaning: Scrubbing Bubbles – As this tutorial shows, you can grab some Scrubbing Bubbles and spray it directly onto your siding! This solution works best if you have random spread out areas of mold or mildew. We do not recommend trying this if your home has a severe mold or mildew problem. You will waste a lot of Scrubbing Bubbles, money and time.
Natural Cleaning: Water + Vinegar – You can mix 70% water with 30% white vinegar to create a solution that cleans light areas of mold or mildew.
Heavy Duty Chemicals: 3 Parts Water, 1 Part Bleach – Apply this combination to the affected areas and let sit. After 30 minutes, you can rinse it off with a hose. If you are concerned about nearby landscaping, you can use oxygen bleach.
Quick and Effective: Pressure Washing – Pressure washing is probably the most common and popular solution out there. If you decide to do it yourself, make sure that you hold the pressure washer so that it’s directly aimed at the siding. Do not tilt it at an angle, as that can damage the siding or force water behind it.
Finally, if your home’s siding is beyond repair or you would like to change from a different type of siding, give us a call today. We can ensure that your home will look brand new again!
