Spring Home Maintenance Checklist

0

The warmth and the rain has approached the Culpeper area. The trees are blooming and the sneezes are emerging. While it is not “officially” Spring, it sure feels like it. This means that you can start thinking about your home’s maintenance. Yes! Home Maintenance. Spring is not just about spring cleaning and getting rid of junk, this is also the perfect time to tackle bigger projects around your home. The weather is no longer freezing and there is no snow in sight, so check out our “Spring Home Maintenance List” and get out there!

Roof: If you haven’t inspected your roof since last spring, there could be some roof damage. Check for missing shingles and make a note of it. The summer sun can really damage your roof and you must be ready. If there are leaves or anything else, clean it!

Gutters: Get rid of any leaves and debris in your gutters. To prepare for Spring’s showers, check for loose or leaky gutters by running a hose down the roof and checking the drainage. If you notice any leaks, give us a call and we will repair it.

HVAC System: You probably have not been using your cooling system for quite a few months, and you will need it when summer comes around. Call a technician to make sure your system is working properly.

Sprinklers: Run your sprinklers! Check to make sure there are no leaky valves or damaged sprinkler heads. If you notice sprinklers spraying the house, adjust them to avoid mold from growing on your siding and from causing moisture to your windows.

Windows: Clean the window screens! They could be bugs or dirt stuck in them. You can do this with a garden hose or by running them under a shower hose. After this, you can clean the exterior of your windows and if you notice any cracks, make sure to call Culpeper Window & Siding!

Termites: Termites start appearing in the spring time. If you notice winged insects crawling on your wood or flying around it, you must contact an exterminator! Make sure to keep any firewood or mulch away from your home’s foundation.

We hope you can go through this checklist and find no issues with your home. But if you run into any trouble with your gutters, windows or siding do not hesitate to call Culpeper Window & Siding!
